Lot 11: Sam Brady Set by: Casey McClure, Liz Cecil, William Schneider, and Heather Schneider
The Sam Brady set is a collaboration for the 250th anniversary of the Revolutionary war. This set commemorates one of its heroes. This frontier scout and spy gained notoriety as a defender of the western frontier. He was able to dress like natives of the Ohio valley to gain intelligence and rescue captives. This set embodies the spirit of his abilities on the western frontier. Bladesmiths Casey McClure and Liz Cecil worked collaboratively to produce a spike hawk and scalper typical of the frontier adorned in a Native style. Each piece carries both of their touch marks. Rounding out the set is a pouch set from William and Heather Schneider. The pouch is in a style seen in period images of Natives made from alum/barktan deer that is paired with a buffalo powderhorn from William’s collection adorned with native flair. Heather produced a fine ball pouch of linsey woolsey with an antler spout. William also produced a fitting native-styled sheath for the red handled scalper.
